'I had never had cats before': Skin-and-bones orange kitten hides from summer storm under person's porch, then gets rescued by neighbor who falls in love and turns him into a real-life Garfield

Every orange cat owner dreams of their cat looking like the infamous lasagna-loving Garfield, but for this lucky cat pawrent, it's a reality!

One of the most beautiful parts of adopting a kitten is watching it grow up, day by day, into its full adult feline form. Unlike puppies, kittens and adult cats can look wildly different than puppies and adult dogs. Some cats' colors intensify, some lose color, some become wonderfully wispy long-haired cats, and others grow feather-duster tails. Cat genetics is a whole topic in and of itself, but we won't bore you with that today. We're here to talk about an ameowzing glow-up, where a sad and skinny stray was rescued, loved, and turned into the fluffiest, chonkiest orange cat you've ever seen.

The clementine-colored kitten, all skin-and-bones, took cover under a purrson's porch to hide from a torrential summer storm. After the rain and lightning stopped, a neighbor passed by and found them, all alone. They had, admittedly, never owned a cat before. But seeing the cute kitten shivering there, they knew they couldn't leave them there. They took the kitten home, and fell in love with them with each passing day.

If you looked at a picture of the cat now, you would never imagine that they had ever been close to crossing the rainbow bridge. With love, security, and a lot of love, this cat has grown into a meowgnificently fluffy cat that looks like a living Garfield. It's pawsitively beautiful to see how much love can transform a cat, and this cat went from rags to riches both in love and in lasagna!

Some cats have a hard past, but what's impurrtant is that we accept them as they are and love them as much as we can until their last breath. Hopefully, everything in between is what allows them to flourish into the beautiful, gorgerous felines that they were always meant to be. Even if they get a little chonky along the way. A little chonky is much better than starving and homeless.
